EDI in Public Involvement: Simple Steps for More Inclusive Research

Speaker

Dr Cassandra Dinius, Patient and Public Involvement Liaison Officer,  Rare Disease Clinical Trials Network & Health Research Charities Ireland.

Unsure where to begin with EDI in PPI? This session introduces a practical, co‑created guide designed to help anyone involved in research make involvement more inclusive.

Created with lived‑experience partners, families, charities and researchers, it provides simple, actionable steps for all research areas.

Dr. Cassandra (Cassy) Dinius is on a mission to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and the community.

She holds the first Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) role of its kind in Ireland, a joint appointment between the Rare Disease Clinical Trial Network and Health Research Charities Ireland (the national umbrella for health research charities). In this position, alongside patient and public partners, she has built the network's co-creation framework from the ground up.

She liaises between various research teams and a network of over 45 different patient organisations to keep studies relevant, accessible, and impactful.

A cognitive neuroscientist by training, Cassandra draws on her decade of experience in brain health and community intervention to support inclusive research that is driven by the people it serves.

This event will be held online via Teams
